How do I qualify to work under the FairTradeWorks brand?
Not only will you need to be a registered business with current insurance and WorkSafe coverage, but you will need to prove that you have relevant skills in your chosen field. Most importantly, you will need to prove that you have a history of satisfied customers through current testimonials and references.
Once I win a bid, what happens next?
This is the point where contracts will be signed, timelines hammered out and payment schedules arranged. Your Advisor will be in communication to make sure every detail is covered, prior to the start of the project. Once construction begins, the Advisor will continue to stay in contact to ensure everything is running smoothly and efficiently.
How do I get paid?
Depending on the size of the project, it can be as simple as finishing it and being paid. In the case of larger projects, you’ll receive payments at the end of each stage of construction, once inspected and approved by the project Advisor. The stages of construction will be established by the Advisor and given to you during our pre-construction phase. Until each stage of the project is completed, all funds will be held in escrow and released to you upon inspection by the Advisor.
What are the FairTradeWorks' codes of conduct' and 'strict guidelines'?
All codes and guidelines will be given to the contractors and trades at the beginning of every project. To sum it up, we expect every job site to be neat and tidy, safe and environmentally friendly. We also want to minimize disruption during construction. To uphold these standards, they are listed in all our contracts and monitored by the project Advisor.
You said you have a strict 'green' policy. What does that mean for me?
The construction industry and the resulting buildings are responsible for more than 50% of the carbon footprint on this planet. That’s disturbing. We are committed at FairTradeWorks to make a difference. Once you’ve been approved to work under our name, you’ll have access to our on-line reference guide outlining our environmental policies. We expect all parties involved with the FairTradeWorks brand, to be GREEN.
What if the client is challenging?
You won’t have to worry about client care, that’s our job. All communication and client service will be done through the project Advisor. All you have to worry about is your job.
What if I don't get along with the project Advisor?
We expect that to be a very rare circumstance. Our Advisors have a strong understanding of the business and are trained to be great communicators. Their role is to make your job easier and allow you to focus solely on building.
